Board and tasks

Every item in a plan is a task with a type, a planned number of minutes, a day and a reason. This page covers the task types, how a task is worked, and the Board that shows all of them.

Working a task

Start opens Focus Mode: the task's objective, a link to the material, and a timer sized to the planned minutes. Focus Mode has three exits:

  • Complete: the task is done and writes evidence.
  • Need more time: the task moves to another day.
  • I struggled: the task counts as practiced and appears under Needs repair on the Board.

Stopping early is fine. Evidence records what you actually did.

Why this? explains the task from the planner's own record: the reason it was chosen and why it is on that day. Pin keeps a task on its day through future replans.

The Board

The Board at /app/sprint/board shows every task in the plan in two views.

List view

Tasks are grouped by when they are due: Missed, Today, Tomorrow, This week, Later and Done. It reads like a to-do list, with the next action at the top.

Kanban view

Tasks are grouped by status in five columns: To do, In progress, Done, Needs repair and Skipped. You can drag a card to another column, or open its menu and choose where to move it from the keyboard.

Moves follow the same rules as the rest of Sprint:

  • A task can be started from To do and completed or skipped from To do or In progress.
  • Nothing moves back to To do, and nothing leaves Done, Needs repair or Skipped. Finished work is history.

Both views share the same filters: interview, task type, status and a text search.
