Resume checker guide

An ATS resume checker built around clear rules.

See what the browser can read, how the estimate is assembled, and where a simple text check reaches its limits.

What it checks

Four signals in your resume text

The checker evaluates the text it can extract using a fixed set of English-language rules:

  1. Readable text and contact details. It looks for extractable resume text and common contact information.
  2. Recognizable sections. It checks whether familiar English section labels have content beneath them.
  3. Optional job-description terms. Add a role description to compare up to 32 weighted terms. A match only means the text appears; it does not demonstrate expertise.
  4. Action and measurement signals. It looks for action words and explicit measures in bullet statements; it does not verify the claims.

The score is a weighted estimate from these rules. It is not a prediction of how a particular employer’s applicant tracking system will rank your resume.

How to use it

Start with the resume you plan to send

  1. 01

Upload a supported resume or paste its text. Review the extracted version when using a file.

  2. 02

Add the job description if you want a keyword comparison; otherwise leave it blank.

  3. 03

Run the check, read the evidence, and choose only the fixes that honestly reflect your experience.

Scope and privacy

A text check, with clear boundaries

The checker reads extracted text. It does not score fonts, columns, visual layout, grammar, or whether a statement is true. Image-only pages are not read with OCR, and the scoring rules are designed for English-language resumes.

Resume files can be up to 10 MB and 50 pages. Pasted resume text is limited to 100,000 characters; a job description is limited to 30,000. Processing happens in your browser, without an account, resume upload to WinJob, or AI processing.

Common questions

ATS resume checker FAQs

What does the resume checker review?

It checks extractable text and contact details, populated English section labels, action and measurement signals in bullets, and—when you add a job description—up to 32 weighted terms. Each result is tied to the rules and text evidence shown in the report.

Do I need to add a job description?

No. The job description is optional. Without one, keyword coverage is marked as not assessed and the other applicable categories can still be reviewed.

Does a high score mean I will pass an ATS?

No. The score summarizes this checker’s fixed rules. Employers use different systems and criteria, and this result cannot predict a hiring decision.

Can it read a scanned or image-only resume?

It does not use OCR. If a page contains only an image, its text cannot be checked. Paste text you have already extracted, or use a text-based document.

Is my resume sent to WinJob?

No. The resume and job description are processed in the current browser tab. The checker does not upload them or send them to an AI service. Static tool files may be downloaded when the browser prepares the tool.

Does it check the design or grammar of my resume?

No. It checks extracted text against visible rules. It does not inspect typography, columns, visual layout, grammar, or the accuracy of your experience.
